  • General Statement: Contains general information about the topic to be discussed in the text.
  • Sequenced Explanation : an explanation of why and how the event occurred. When writing an article, it should be separated into several sequences or sections. Of course you don't want to make the reader dizzy reading a very long paragraph.Connect paragraphs with cause-and-effect relationships of the phenomena being written about. Paragraphs are written in a logical order and explain why or how something happened. The explanation in order must contain a series of events, actions, causes or processes for the phenomenon. Events that occur are also listed in order of time or cause. All this must be written in detail and accurately. Usually the sequence of events written will develop by explaining how events occurred over a period of time.
  • Closing / Concluding Statement: the conclusion of the story. Actually closing is not listed in the generic structure of the explanation text.

๐Ÿ’ฅUsing complex noun groups, it aims to build detailed descriptions for example, 'Threatening', 'Rampaging' or 'Enormous' and many more.
๐Ÿ’ซUsing abstract nouns such as 'heat', 'earthquakes', 'floods', and others.
๐Ÿ‘พUse sentences with clear subjects and use the verb agreement.
๐Ÿ’ฃUsing action verbs to explain the cause of the phenomenon under discussion such as 'from' or 'started from'.
๐Ÿ’žUse an adverbial phrase from a time and place to tell when and where the incident took place. For example. ‘Its is to be found in Sulawesi, Indonesia’.
๐Ÿ’ญUse conjunctions to link time sequences in causal order. For example 'after', 'finally', 'so', 'then' and others.
๐Ÿ’ŸUsing passive voice which is useful for emphasizing the focus of events that are taking place.
๐Ÿ’ฌUsing conjunctions of time, for example, 'when', 'as'. This time conjunction is to order and connect events so that the written text is more fluid. This time conjunction can be placed first in a sentence to focus the reader's attention.

1. Using the simple present tense
Explanation text usually describes a fact. For this reason, this text uses sentences in the present tense.
The sentence structure in the tense form consists of:

Subject + Infinitive/V1 or Subject (he/she/it) + V1 (s/es) + Object

2. Using passive voice
Passive voice is a passive voice. If translated into Indonesian, the sentence begins with the suffix "di-".
The purpose of this sentence used in explanation text is to emphasize a word or phenomenon. Of course, this passive voice is written in the present tense.
The sentence structure of the passive voice in the simple present is:

Subject + to be (is/am/are) + Past Participle/V3

3. Using noun phrases and active verbs
A noun phrase is a phrase that functions as a noun. The structure of this phrase can consist of:

Noun + Noun, Noun + of + Noun, or Determiner + Adverb + Adjective + Noun

Meanwhile, active verbs are a type of verb (verb) that shows the action or action taken by the subject. Simply put, active verbs are part of direct sentences.

4. Using chronological connector
Chronological connector is a conjunction used to express the sequence of events. For example, first, second, after that, next, then, finally, and so on.

5. Using adverbial phrases
Adverbial phrases are phrases that function as adverbs to clarify the meaning of the sentence as a whole. For further discussion of this phrase, please read here.
